Cosmetic Acupuncture

Do you want to reduce visible signs of ageing, but are apprehensive to seek out invasive, cosmetic surgery? Botox and face-lifts are not for everyone, and these costly procedures can take a confronting amount of time to settle down after treatment. If you’re looking for a less aggressive and more natural alternative then Cosmetic Acupuncture, also known as Facial Rejuvenation, is for you.

WHAT IS COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE?

Cosmetic Acupuncture, aka Facial Rejuvenation, is a form of Traditional Chinese dermatology that utilises skin needling to visibly improve the texture and tone of your skin. Many laser clinics are now offering a similar procedure, called Microneedling or Skin Needling, which is based on the practice of cosmetic acupuncture but is offered at a significantly more expensive price. This holistic, regenerative treatment aims to kick-start the body’s natural wound healing response underneath the epidermis, boosting circulation by increasing blood movement and promoting the natural reproduction and distribution of collagen and elastin.

Cosmetic Acupuncture aims to achieve immediate results that visibly improve the
muscle tone of the face and neck.

HOW IS COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER ANTI-AGING TREATMENTS?

Cosmetic acupuncture is natural and does not fill the body with toxic chemicals like other cosmetic procedures such as Botox. This process encourages your body to produce more collagen and elastin, working from the deepest layers of the skin to lift and tone, firm, and heal its self. Cosmetic Acupuncture allows the body to regulate and heal its self.

Every facial rejuvenation treatment plan is specifically designed to meet your individual needs and every treatment is uniquely tailored to give you ultimate results. At Northern Rivers Cosmetic Acupuncture, we aim to make your experience as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

It is important to note that areas treated with Botox within the past three months will not respond to Cosmetic Acupuncture.

TRADITIONALLY, COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE AIMS TO:

  • Hydrate the skin by increasing blood circulation and lymph flow to the face

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles

  • Improve muscle tone, firmness and elasticity of the skin

  • Stimulate collagen and elastin production to fill in sunken areas

  • Reduce signs of ageing skin with dryness and sun damage

  • Assist in lifting sagging and drooping skin

  • Brighten the eyes and assists with lifting droopy eyelids

  • Brighten complexion and evens skin tone

  • Open pores

  • Treat acne

  • Softens acne scarring.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-aggressive and minimally invasive treatment that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

An initial assessment of the skin is conducted to determine an individualised treatment plan for each client. Specific acupuncture points are selected based upon this assessment.

Northern Rivers Cosmetic Acupuncture employs three core techniques to achieve natural, anti-aging results, aiming to accomplish an overall tightening, lifting and glowing effect on the face, neck and body.

1. Lift and Tone
Achieved by targeting muscles in the face.

In order to effectively lift and tone the skin, we target motor points in various muscles of the face. A motor point is an exact location where the nerve and the muscle meet. This sophisticated system uses different acupuncture points and needling techniques to target various skin issues from anti-aging to acne scarring. When needled, a signal is sent to the central nervous system, which causes a contraction of the muscle. After contracting, tense muscles respond by relaxing, and loose, weak or drooping muscles respond by tightening or lifting.

2. Firm and Tighten
Achieved by targeting soft facial tissue and skin.

In order to visibly firm and tighten the skin, we promote the production of collagen and elastin within the facial tissue and skin. Targeted microneedles are carefully placed in various parts of the face that require an increase of collagen and elastin. The application of microneedles painlessly causes a localised “microtrauma”, alerting the body’s healing response to increase the production of collagen and elastin, which in turn repairs the treated area. This process can soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and promote firmness of the face by restoring elasticity and density to an area that has experienced depletion.

3. Circulate, Enhance and Balance
Achieved by increasing circulation to oxygenate and regenerate the face and body.

This acupuncture technique increases blood circulation to areas of concern, oxygenating facial tissue and skin. It helps to remove toxins and circulates nutrients to various layers of the skin. This technique also leaves your skin soft and supple by restoring hydration and balance to your skin.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Treatments are cumulative and results improve with each session. Results also depend on your body’s ability to respond to the stimulation that the facial needles and treatment provide. Generally, the healthier you are, the more enduring your results will be as your body’s response system is at it’s most active.
